Christmas

Man has it been crazy at our house with family in town, Christmas, and yes more family in town. The week before Christmas we really enjoyed having my Dad stay with us. It's always fun to spend time with him! We went out, napped, he built a bear for the grand daughters, played games, and just relaxed which is always great in my book. He left on Tuesday.

Wednesday we went to Clark's parents house to deliver Santa's gifts to a family in need. Every year they adopt a family and on Christmas eve they deliver the gifts to the family. The families they pick are usually ones they don't know but this year they picked one from their ward so us kids, the ones this family wouldn't recognize, delivered everything. It was so sweet. There was a 8 year old girl, I think, and another older sister and brother around 11 or 12. The little girl gave me hug and said, "I hope Santa got me a cell phone..." I couldn't help but laugh.

Afterwards Clark and I headed out to my sister's for my families Christmas Eve Traditional dinner. We enjoyed the food and then went around the block looking at Christmas lights which is also a tradition.

We then headed home. We opened Brooklyn's Pajamas from her grandmother (yes another tradition) and she looked too cute, not to mention she was in desperate need of them! So thanks Grandma Muir!

Christmas morning we opened up our gifts and then headed out to the in laws. The rest of the day was enjoyable being with his family. We opened gifts and then had a nice dinner. Like Amber, I too think Christmas is more meaningful with children! I know Brooklyn didn't fully understand everything but just having her sweet spirit there with us made all the difference! I can't wait for many more Christmas's' to come with her.

Well, this weekend my Oldest brother Brenon comes in town and we get to be with him and his family which is always a pleasure! He lives in OK and we don't see much of him. It will be nice to be with him.

Although we love family SOOOOO much, Clark and I are looking forward for next week when we can just chill at home, the three of us!

Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and were able to think of our Savior's birth and how important that special day was for all of us!

Big Girl

On Wednesday December 17Th Brooklyn got her ears pierced! Nana and Aunt Cindy came with for the special occasion. There was only one "Lady" working so it took forever for her to finally get to us, while waiting I thought I was going to have heart attack! Just a long time to wait and be nervous.

Brooklyn did very well, just like her shots. She cries for about 2 minutes and then is easily comforted and cuddly! We were excited to show Daddy who didn't know about this trip. He told me in MN that I could get her ears done before Christmas and I knew if Clark was there for it it would never ever happen so we kept it our little secret!

She looks too cute and now for sure no one will mistake her for a boy.(Weird lady at home depot) You could say it was one of her Christmas gifts.

Mobile...

So yes its been awhile but Brooklyn has been scooting for about 2.5-3 weeks now. Its super cute, at first she would crawl over her arm and get stuck but now she is fully moving and doing a lot better!

I can't believe my girl is mobile now!! We are still working on sitting up by herself (I know, it's sad she doesn't do this yet) but know she will do it in her own time...Well here's a video of her moving for you. I wasn't looking at her when I was taping but she knew I was watching her so she didn't move as much.

Bonding with my sister in law....

As most of you have read, our family of three went to Minnesota for Thanksgiving to be with my dad, brother Marc, SIL Jen, and nephew Maddsen. I felt like sharing this experience with you... I apologize if its tmi for you!

One night all of us made a trip to the Mall, us girls went by ourselves with the kiddies and the boys went to buy clark a battery charger for his phone. After we met up again, the boys took the kids while Jen and I went into Fredrick's....yes that's right Fredrick's, and the boys didn't complain to much. So here is a conversation in the store with each other....

" Have you ever tried eatable underwear?" Me

"No I haven't" Jen

"I wonder if its any good...I haven't heard anything from other people..."

"Yeah me either..."

" Well there is a sale, buy 2 get one free. If you are willing to experiment I can get one for me, one for you and then whoever wants the other..."

"Yeah I would go in on that with you"

"I am up for trying something different"

As I was saying this I realized how this must be playing out for the lady at the register who could hear our conversation. Us two girls in the store, by ourselves, asking each other to experiment. I quickly realized her eyes on us and stated " Oh its not for us Us, its for our husbands!" "We aren't together or anything..." Both Jen and I are laughing... We then left the store embarrassed and at the same time laughing inside.

Bonding time with my sister in law....

Monkey Attack!!

On Thursday Brooklyn and I tagged along with my sister Ashley and her girls to the zoo which was tons of fun. We made our rounds of flamingos, elephants, camels and then to the monkeys. They have this cage where you can walk in with them and they are all around you in trees and ropes. Kaylee loves the monkeys so we go there very time, she even makes monkey sounds...too cute!

Well, I was holding Brooklyn and trying to get her to see them. There was a lot of them out and at close range. There was a rope above us that they can move along and 4 of them did. The first one stopped and looked at us and it looked like he was going to jump at us. Luckily it didn't and moved across. So, 3 more go by and they do the exact same thing! The Zoo keeper ran over and covered Brooklyn's hair bow and said flowers are a source of food for them!!! I don't have the zoo pictures but I wanted to show you what bow she was wearing.

Can you say the biggest and brightest flower?!
As soon as she said that I ripped off the bow and put it in my pocket. I can't believe my daughter almost got mauled by monkeys!!

Note to self: no flower bows in the monkey cage!!

Maddsen and Marc at Red Lobster, gotta love Maddsen's hair

Maddsen playing with a crab leg...isn't he adorable!! I loved kissing his cheeks!Oh yeah but good luck changing this guys diaper! He wouldn't have it...I hope Brooklyn didn't learn it from him...still love him! How can you not??

We went for a walk around the block, we wrapped blankets around Brooklyn and she looked like a Mini Chimi! The gloves were so big on her the thumb part just stuck out! Clark is crazy, was 35 degrees out and he went in his t-shirt!

Our Thanksgiving feast...not included all the pies which there was about 6 or so. Thanks again Jen and Clark!!

My adorable nephew, which yes I have many! It was so nice to be with him and for him to realize who his favorite aunt is and will be...hehehe. I made sure to give him some ice cream and eggnog and that was a big hit with him!!

Big Girl

On Wednesday December 17th Brooklyn got her ears pierced!! Nana and Aunt Cindy came with for moral support. There was only one "lady" (I do this because she wasn't really a she if you get what I mean...) working and she took forever to get to us. I thought I was going to have a heart attack because I was so nervous and had too much time to be so.

Brooklyn did a great job, like her shots she cried for nearly 2 minutes and then is easily comforted which I love! I felt like I had to holder like she was a crazy child. I had to take my right arm across her shoulders and chest to hold her still and with the left arm I had to hold her forehead still so she couldn't move. I just kept telling myself she wont remember, she won't remember. She looks super cute and we couldn't wait to show Daddy...He didn't know about it. When we were in MN he said I could get her ears done before Christmas so I knew if he was there they would never get done. We came home, Daddy liked them but took a while to get use to. He thought his little girl was innocent but really?!? She is adorable...

Home sick...

For Thanksgiving Clark, Brooklyn and I went up to Minnesota to be with my Dad, brother Marc, his wife Jen, and our nephew Maddsen. We had an enjoyable time even though it was freezing...ok maybe not too cold but colder than I am use to or have been in in a long time!
Thanksgiving meal was great thanks to Clark and Jen! I know I know I am spoiled and I LOVE it! We spent the day walking, eating, resting, and relaxing, best way to spend a holiday I might add.

Dad treated us to dinner to Red Lobster, Muffelettas (ha Meagan, I have had it!!) and Outback! Our last night there Dad got a baby sitter for our little ones and we went to Outback then went bowling! It was a lot of fun. At bowling we were messing around and trying to come up with wacky ways to bowl. Jen would do left hand, Marc would bowl from as far back as he could, Clark would chuck a 6 lb ball, and I...yes I put the ball between my legs and went down into the splits and wait for it......wait for it..... I got a STRIKE!! It was great. There was little kids next to us who kept saying "Hey Person, Hey Person, do it again" they kept calling me person and giving me 2 thumbs up!

On Saturday Brooklyn and I went back to my home town Champlin to make some stop-bys with High School Friends and visit special places to me. We first drove by my high school. Oh good times! Don't want to go back but still good to have experienced it. Then we stopped by my friend Erica's house by unfortunately she had already gone back to school. We then made our way to Jill's house. Luckily she was home and we caught up on some time together. Jill is still energetic and sweet. Unfortunately I didn't remember to pull out the camera...stinky.
Add Image
Then we drove by my high school job Culvers. I worked there for about 3 years, part time. They have really good food and I need to go to the one in Mesa because really enjoy what they serve!

Next stop was Jamie Vortherms. She was one of my best friends in High school. Her Dad answered the door with Kelsey Farmer?? It was great! I remembered to take a picture. I hope to keep in touch with her more now that I have her info.

My old house was also on the list. Good memories here! I wouldn't trade my time there at all, it made me who I am today and I am truly thankful for that! I hope the people living in it now are enjoying it as much as I did.

Last we made a stop by another friend Allie who was also in cheerleading with me. Her close friend, another cheerleader of our time, Vickie stopped by and we caught up on our last 4 years of life. Can you believe it??? 4 YEARS!! All of the girls I saw are graduating college this May and have big plans for the future, if not I know they will! It was great seeing them. Although it was kinda weird for me to be married, have a kid and be a stay at home mom while they are off at college! After making our trip around the city I kinda got homesick. Nostalgic really....

Well all in all our family of three enjoyed our time in cold old MN and are looking forward to spending more time there in the future! Thank you Dad for giving us a great Thanksgiving!! We love you much. We enjoyed time with Marc, Jen, and Maddsen!!

My Twilight Review

So here is my review of Twilight:

My sister and I went to the movie Friday afternoon at a smaller theater and it was perfect. When we got out there was a long line for the next showing with soooo many teeny boppers (that's what we call teenage hormonal hyper girls) and were glad we saw it when we did!

I thought that it was a pretty good movie although Edward is not as attractive as I thought he would be in the book. He just doesn't do anything for me! I did however feel he did a great job at his character and same with Bella. Bella on the other hand was perfect for her role: in both physical and emotional ways!

Here are the few characters I didn't feel were the right ones for the part. First of all isn't Alice suppose to be blonde?? She didn't bring the same amount of warmth and kindness she had in the book. I can't really think who else I wasn't to fond of, maybe Eric? Oh and Jasper gave a definitely weird vibe, one I didn't feel from the book.

I felt that Charlie, Emmett, Alice, Esme, Carlisle, Jessica, Jacob (oh can you say Hair cut?!) were perfect for the parts.

One thing that really did bug me was the make-up in some parts. Like when you see Carlisle for the first time in the Hospital and he is so white and you can see the make-up line on his neck where is ends...ya that was BAD!! I am hoping with the 2ND one they can improve that a little bit.

Oh and another thing: what was up with the whole "weirdness" of the movie. I mean I do understand he's a vampire and it does put a twist on a "fairy tale" but I felt like they went a little to weird on it.

Don't get me wrong I really enjoyed the movie! I just wanted to vent on what was on my mind about it. All in all I did like the movie, I would go see it again. In fact I hope to soon. I just wish Edward was a little more breath taking for me!! He is suppose to be "untouchable" and I just don't feel that way about him. Well, after seeing the movie it did urge me to read it again, for the 3RD TIME!

Sign of the times...

I wanted to share my thoughts on recent events at both the LA Temple and NY Manhattan Temple this past week. I couldn't sleep well last night because my mind was everywhere. I have several feelings going through me at this point: scared, proud, disbelief ed, fearful, etc. What honestly is this world coming to?
For some of you who may not know what is going on, recently there has been two gay marriage marches to two LDS temples. In LA I think there was a thousand protesters and in NY there were two thousand marching because the Prop 8 passed in California. People believe it is because of "Church funding" the prop passed and of course they are upset. Let me clarify one thing, there was absolutely no funding by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. There may have been individual members who donated to the cause but not the Church as a whole.
People are chanting "Tax the Church" and "gay, straight, black or white marriage is a civil right". I was deeply troubled by this. They carried signs of NO H8 but what are they calling us and what are they doing to our sacred places?? They marked Liars, and wrote on the gate in front of the LA temple. I was angered. Where has our country gone to where we are ridiculed for voting?? Many people asked the protesters what we had done wrong? And no one could answer the question.
Then I felt scared. I felt scared for my children and what kind of world they will be raised in. What kind of challenges they will go through and what kind of people will try to degrade them and their faith. I honestly worried for my baby girl and for my children to come.
I felt fearful for the future. It really seems to me like the second coming is truly getting closer!! I am afraid of how much more sinful and horrible this world is going to get. It seems it can't get any worse.
I felt so many feelings for the people who marched. I felt saddened by their feelings for us! We don't show any hate towards them, we just feel differently then them on this matter and that's ok! I felt angered by their disrespect for our temple, i felt...

I felt so much and all I could think of was Signs of the Times....

Results...

Brooklyn looks like her Father!!
I know these pictures aren't the best to see but I had to scan them and show everyone who Brooklyn truly looks like! When people see us they say she looks like me which she does but then you see Clark's baby pictures and they are an exact match!! We will see if she changes as she gets older. Or maybe our next child will look like me....

Flight Back Home

On Election Day is when we left Utah for home. It was nice because there wasn't much people flying to Pheonix but once we got here the airport was pretty crowded. Again Brooklyn did great! She wasn't fussy one bit and fell asleep on Clark for most of the plane ride and even woke up 10 minutes before landing to just watch out the window while resting her head on her father's shoulder! Super Cute. If Richard didn't already have the name of Baby Whisperer I would give it to Clark, he did a great job with her! We are glad to be home now but we do miss hanging out with everyone in UT!

Goodbyes

We had to say our goodbyes to Aunt Amber, Uncle Cody (who wasn't there for all the pictures due to working), Peanut, "Aunt" Corby, and "Uncle" Richard who is now known as "The Baby Whisperer".(Brooklyn loved him) (then again who does she not love?!?) It was a fun visit and enjoyed our time with them! Can't wait to see them all again soon. Thank you to Amber and Cody for lending us their car. It was nice to be able to get around! And thank you to Corby and Richard for letting us crash at their place! We know we can get messy and there was a lot of added dishes! We owe you so whenever you decide to come visit us you will always have a place to stay!

Photo shoot...

A few weeks ago Brookyln, Aiden, and Logan got their pictures take in their hawaiian outfits that their grandparents had gotten them. They wanted to use these pictures as their christmas cards but Aiden had a long day and just wouldn't have it...stinker!! But we did get good pictures of Logan and Brooklyn, here are a few to enjoy...

Why can't life be a musical?

While in Utah, Corby and I went to High School Musical 3! We were so excited to see it because it's been out for sometime now but haven't had a chance to go. We had a blast. We first stopped at grocery store to buy some candy and drinks which fit into her massive bag of a purse. We got some girls to take our picture in front of the sign. And yes we were that excited!! When we got into the theater we weren't surprised to only see a couple in there. We planned it perfectly, Monday night (FHE night for LDS families) and it was also at 7:40 which is too late for kiddies too. It was my first movie since Brooklyn has been born, sad but it was nice to finally go! The movie, I would have to say, was better than the 2ND. Corby and I really enjoyed the songs "Can I have this dance?" and also "The Boys are back". We want our husbands to dance with us on top of a school in the middle of a garden!! Well, Thanks Corby for taking me, I enjoyed it sooo much!!! Don't worry Taylor I would totally take you and go again!

First Banana

On Monday November 3rd Brooklyn was fed her first banana by her Aunt Amber, now her favorite because she fed her real food! Brooklyn didn't really know what to do with it which was funny and we didn't have a baby spoon to feed her it so it didn't go as well as we hoped! We will try more food when we get home with our good spoons and see how she does. We are glad Amber got to do something with Brooklyn that no one else, not even her parents, has done. Brooklyn loves her Aunt and can't wait to spend more time with her when she comes to visit in January. (Hopefully, crossing our fingers) Thanks for all you do for us Aunt Amber!!

Bath Time

While in Utah Amber and I had to get as much pictures of the cousins together as possible! So of course we took some bath time pictures of them two together. Brooklyn looks giant compared to Chandler, he is actually the weight right now that Brooklyn was at birth which is crazy to me! Brooklyn really enjoys the bath but enjoys it more with boys in it, ok ok with her cousin!

Here at Peanut's Bed and Breakfast the owner also lets you use his personal Froggie bath towel. Amber loves this picture because you can see her 5 legs rolls.... okay maybe six. But you gotta love em!

Peanut Loves Egg Roll

When we were hanging out with Peanut (Chandler) he was kind enough to let his cousin Egg Roll (Brooklyn) sleep in his crib. She was the first one to sleep in it, not even Peanut has had his first opportunity! She loves her cousin, smiling at him every chance she gets! Thanks Peanut for being such a kind and cute host! Heck, he started his first Bed and Breakfast, breast milk not included!

First Halloween

Brooklyn woke up excited and happy for her first Halloween! Both Amber and I were excited that as cousins Brooklyn and Chandler could share their first Halloween together. We dressed them up and enjoyed watching their interaction, well Brooklyn talking and smiling to him while he was out of it. Although in this picture it was the exact opposite! Chandler is laughing at his silly cousin, Egg Rolls. Us adults also enjoyed the evening watching the Office and trying to talk me into watching a scary movie which never works. We had pizza for dinner and Amber made delicious monster brownies! Yummmm.... Halloween was filled with cute kids (ours of course), delicious food, and just relaxing. Thanks Amber and Cody for the great memories!

Brooklyn's First Flight!!

On Thursday Clark, Brooklyn and I made our journey to Utah to visit Chandler, Cody, Amber, and Clark's friends Richard and Corby. It was Brooklyn's first flight and amazingly it went well! There was a 5 minute period where she was crying but then Clark took her and got her to fall asleep on him! It was so nice, she slept most of the way and even stayed asleep for the landing. Clark won't let me forget that she was fussy with me and he got her to sleep, so yes yes you are an amazing father! I will give ya an update on the flight back. Hopefully we will have the same experience, wish us luck....
